Gordon Brett
Graduate Student
Gordon Brett's research interests lie at the intersection of sociological theory, culture, cognition, and the body/embodiment. His dissertation project examines the embodied dimensions of creativity in different domains. Additionally, Gordon has multiple projects related to dual-process models in the social sciences; both as it relates to the social structuring of dual-process cognition, as well as the study of creativity through dual-process models. His current theoretical projects involve improving and analyzing theory diagrams (relying on cognitive linguistics and gestalt psychology), and using Norbert Elias to organize the sociological study of 'political correctness'.
As it relates to culture, his major focus is Mixed Martial Arts, and aims towards demonstrating how cultural sociology can inform the study of Mixed-Martial Arts and vice-versa.
