Laura Upenieks

Graduate Student

Laura Upenieks is a fifth year PhD student in Sociology at the University of Toronto. Effective August 2019, she will be an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Laura's research interests lie in health inequalities over the life course, aging and health, and the sociology of religion and morality. Her dissertation project seeks to integrate life course models of health and social network analysis to better understand the relationship between religion and health. In MAC lab, she is part of a long-term collaborative project with Andrew Miles that aims to understand the relationship between moral behavior, moral self-processes, and

emotions. Laura's recent research is published in Social Problems, Social Science Research, Research on Aging, Social Psychology Quarterly, and Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion.
